"How to Make an Artificial Prim Tree" by Kris Thomas -Simply Prim
~*~
Just about now we could all use a little Spring break. This is the part of Winter which seems to go on for an eternity, but there’s hope that Spring will indeed come.
~*~
The sun I noticed is a bit higher in the sky now,the days are getting longer believe it or not!The other morning the birds were all out chirping their sing songs, almost as if they knew too. It’s all so exciting as if everything is coming to life for the first time!
~*~
Oh it’s such a wonderful time spending it outdoors, smelling that fresh air…it does have a certain scent…I can’t describe it, but it makes everyone happy to be alive!Come take a little virtual Spring break with some my favorite photos from last year.
This basket hangs on Linda’s front door, isn’t it just so sweet.I snapped this photo last year.
Keep The Faith….Spring will come!
Don’t be afraid to paint..this was a post I did in the forum, about going ahead and not being afraid to paint something. It’s just paint right?I had posted this for Brenda to get her motivated to paint her hutch! This is my hutch, circa some time last year, and after I painted last February.
Before
After I painted it
Well after posting that I realized I had been procrastinating on a job that I’ve wanted to do…but put off BIG TIME!I decided to take my own advice, and started on a project to paint all the trim on my windows and baseboards to a colonial red (which was white before) It’s always so good to give out kudos and support to someone else…so to make a long story short this got me off my duff to start my own paint project. I started with the living room,it wasn’t easy…but it was all worth it, and lol, “I AM NOT AFRAID TO PAINT!”
Benjamin Moore/ Historic Collection
“Cottage Red”
Post Note…a few days later
After looking at the old iron curtain rods for a few days, I decided to change out the rods for an inside tension rod to show more trim.Much better!

Enjoy some prim inspiration from Lori “theblackcrow”…this is just a sampling,Lori has posted more in the forum. So go check it out!
There’s nothing better than having the day off on a beautiful snowy afternoon and sharing it with prim minded folks!
As I headed to Audrey’s home to pick her up,I just had to capture the beauty of the fresh snow! Her blog is
http://audreysprimworld.blogspot.com/
Look how pretty Audrey’s home looks sitting way up on this hill!
Audrey is a bit modest about this… but here’s her cute little shop her hubby built just so she could sell her prim dolls in!Love the color, and the black bench!
Below are a few things she’s made.
This grungy teddie for an APP sale in the Fall, and the little doll pictured on the left. They both have special places in my home!
We then headed to Sue’s home, which is in the same town. She’s a retired Kindergarten teacher who spends some of her free time making primitive crafts with a very close friend of hers.Sue has been collecting various primitive pieces for years, and luck would have it, she has a brother who’s an antiques dealer in ME,who keeps a watchful out for prized pieces!
Here’s just a sampling of her primitive home.I took many more pictures of her Christmas eye-candy, but you’ll just have to wait to see more…APP has the best homes!
Seen here FIRST!!
Sue’s kitchen cabinets are a gorgeous shade of red!
Her grandfather’s suspenders
Well that ends the day ,and I would’ve loved to have shown you more, but we’re saving those for another day!

Grab a cup of coffee and sit a spell, because this post is a long one, filled with eye-candy!
The day started with Audrey swinging by to pick me up.We headed out to Princeton MA where we stopped and visited with Bob & Janet Sandstrom owners of the
Red Fox Farm
What a beautiful setting…
Bob & Janet own sheep, here’s a picture of them, and they sell the wool in their quaint little shop located right in front of the barn.
The shop is called
“The Wooly Fox”
Inside the woodstove was going, and it was all warm and toasty!
Janet sells many wares from local artisans, and crafters from her community. She even supports the youth with many of their crafts, which are on sale at her shop,as well as some community causes!
Audrey was in heaven, as she scooped up some wool to use when she makes her dolls!
Janet & Bob were so gracious, they allowed us into their gorgeous home!!We enjoyed listening to Janet give us a history of the farm, which in it’s day, was an antique car museum!
This room is just the entryway!
WOW!
Look at the size of this crock!
Children’s Room
We would like to thank Bob & Janet for allowing us in,and they’ll be having a Garden Tour this June, which we can’t wait to see all their beautiful flowers in full bloom! They had a Christmas Home Tour in Dec., which was a a great success with over 400 visitors!!Please if you’re in the area, stop by and pay them a visit! While we were there we met Lynn Turcotte a local potter. She had some nice pieces of handcrafted pottery which Janet sells in the shop.My little sheep pillow to remind me of them!

I just wanted to "Thank you" for all your very sweet and kind comments..you all are so thoughtful and kind..Well it came and went...Country Sampler photographers and stylist Franklin and Esther Schmidt arrived at my home on Thursday the 7th and Friday the 8th...They are the nicest and most interesting people and they make you feel so good!!...To tell you the truth ...before they came ...I felt a little intimidated as I know they are very popular and have been all over the country in the most wonderful of homes...and here they were coming to "mine"...I am just a little "country homemaker" that loves playing house...and I couldn't believe they were coming..but come they did and they made me feel very comfortable..I am very "thankful" for A Primitive Place...as this is where they saw my home ...When I sent in my Christmas pictures....I never thought anything about Country Sampler seeing them..!! So Franklin and Esther worked very hard for 14 hours taking 18 pictures...Now I can hardly wait until the Christmas issue..! So thank you A Primitive Place...you made this all possible and I am so grateful to you..!!!
Blessings Always,

Looking out at January
A new year…starting fresh and clean, as the snow in my yard.Old man winter has settled in.
The Christmas tree has come down…always a bit sad.It can also be good thing though… you can start the new year with a fresh clean plate.Linda “Behind My Red Door” talked about keeping it simple in her home, keeping only things that she truly loves out.To
“Simplify”
which is written on these boxes
So putting putting away all those decorations just might be a good thing! You can start the new year off…fresh & clean as this January snowfall!!

~It’s a winter wonderland here in New England!Since we’re snowed in today,I decided to trek over to Patty’s home, my good friend, and neighbor.
Patty & Haley
Doesn’t her home look like the picture perfect setting for Christmas?
This is the view I see when I look out my front windows! Her home is a beautiful shade of a muted colonial red!
Her lamp post is all done up with fresh pine.
Her massive tree reaches all the way up to her cathedral ceilings!
Simply gorgeous!
If you peer through her windows, you can see my house!
Patty has decorated way on top of this ledge with an assortment of little trees, and snowmen. She also strung lighted garland along her balcony,it looks beautiful at night.
Of course Haley wanted her picture taken!
Smile!
Patty found this little chair that someone was tossing out in Concord!
Pssst they have nice things in Concord!
This little tree sits in her kitchen, and it’s decorated with little kitchen utensils, for a whimsy look!
Patty is lucky to have a hearth in her kitchen,it’s decorated with cute little snowfolk.
Well that’s end of the tour, and I want to thank Patty for allowing us in! On the way home I had to capture the magic of all this snow.

As you curl up by the fire,
You realize there is something you desire.
Mulled spices and cider,
Called Glogg,
Is best drunk when in a mug.
Perhaps you will share,
But don’t you dare,
To drive anywhere,
When you drink Glogg!
As Christmas nears, and the outside air has been bitten by Jack Frost,
there’s simply nothing better than coming inside and curling up in front of a toasty fire with a cup of warm Glogg. The aroma this hot mulled wine produces while simmering is soothing, and brings to mind all of the holiday spices.
The Scandinavian word for Glogg means “mulled wine.” My brother in-law who is Swedish, has introduced this festive holiday drink to my family, and it has now become a tradition for us to have it during the holidays. Glogg is usually served during the winter holidays after dinner in place of coffee.
**I would advise to designate a driver if you drink this, or do not drive at all!**
Glogg Recipe:
1 1/2 cups red wine
1 1/2 cup ruby port wine
1 cup vodka
6 pieces cardamom
2 T. grated orange peel
2 sticks cinnamon
2 oz. slivered almonds
1/2 T. raisins
1 T. cloves
Combine wine, port and vodka in a nonreactive pot. Add cardamom, cloves, almonds, raisins, orange peel and cinnamon and gently warm (DO NOT BOIL) over low heat. Allow to steep for at least 20 mins (longer is better). Serve in heatproof glasses.
Prim Blessings,
Bonnie

Cyanne’s Christmas Village Collection
We hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving!I had a lovely time spent with family on Cape Cod.
An up close picture of our thankful meal, nothing like fresh apple cider! While I was there I spied my mother’s holly tree in full bloom, she let me take as much as I wanted, and I promised Linda
that I would bring some to her on Sunday when I get to see her home decorated for Christmas!Below is a picture of my mother’s massive holly tree.Every year around this time when the berries ripen, flocks of starlings and robins will eat all the berries all in one day even before she gets to use the sprigs, how dare they!
This is what I’ve done so far ,tomorrow I’ll add some greens above the door.I wrapped fresh evergreen around the lamp post and tucked in the holly here and there. The holly really adds a pretty red touch!
I tucked the holly along with winterberry, evergreens, pussy willow stems, and some sparkly pinecones into my milk can.
Next week we have some exciting things going on at APP,be looking for our December Featured Home, all decked out for Christmas! You’ll be sure to love this one!
